AJ started climbing at an early age in 1986, and quickly developed
a passion for the sport. While devoting himself to mastering all
aspects of climbing, his pursuit has taken him to climbing areas
throughout the world. As a result, he has gained a broad base of
experience and a diverse and well-rounded repertoire of skills.
His travels have taken him to the rock faces of Spain and Thailand,
the Italian Dolomites, the big walls of Yosemite and Zion and to
the Himalayan kingdom of Nepal. AJ brings a genuine love of teaching
and a thoughtful, easygoing manner to his guiding. He enjoys sharing
the beauty and adventure of climbing with beginning and advanced
students alike.
Whether
guiding a difficult technical climb or teaching the fundamentals
of rock and ice climbing, AJ's devotion to each student is evident
from his loyal following. AJ began his guiding career at International
Mountain Climbing School in 1993. He was also a guide at Atlantic
Climbing School and a member of Yosemite Search and Rescue.

a member of Mountain Rescue Service.
Ian
Turnbull

Ian began climbing in Britain in 1966. He visited the European Alps
in 1972, and for the next decade lived and climbed in France and
Switzerland, where he introduced many beginners to the Alps. Moving
to New Hampshire in 1981, he took a job with International Mountain
Equipment in North Conway, and has been teaching climbing, and guiding
professionally since then. His many years of activity include major
Alpine climbs, both on his own and as a guide, classic high level
ski tours, ski-mountaineering
trips in Europe, climbing trips to Yosemite and many climbs here
in New England. Guiding and teaching are a source of personal satisfaction
to Ian, who considers himself fortunate to be able to combine such
pleasure with his work.

Alpine Certified, an EMT and a member of Mountain
Rescue Service.
Kurt
Winkler

Kurt learned to climb in 1966 while working
for the Appalachian Mountain Club's trail crew. He taught for IME
and EMS Climbing Schools before starting with the Mountain Guides
Alliance in 1986. He has guided both here and abroad.His
climbing background includes a four day solo ascent of the Lotus
Flower Tower in the North West Territories, the first ascent of
La Pomme D'Or, a 1,200 foot ice climb in Quebec, big walls in Yosemite
Valley and winter ascents in the Canadian Rockies. He has climbed
alpine routes in Alaska and the European Alps, including Mt. Blanc,
the Matterhorn and the Eiger. He has also pioneered many ascents,
both in rock and ice, in New England. His wide-rangeing enthusiasm
for climbing, combined with a sincere and patient teaching ability
has helped many climbers develop confidence in themselves and their
sport.
Kurt
is a Wilderness First Responder and Serves on the Board of
Directors of the Mountain Rescue Service.
Jeff
Fongemie

Jeff has devoted his life to climbing since 1986. Committed to all
aspects of this sport, he has climbed traditional rock routes throughout
the West and South West, frozen waterfalls in New England and classic
routes in the Alps. In addition, he has gained extensive experience
at some of the country's finest sport areas. Jeff began his guiding
career in 1992 with the International Mountain Climbing School and
since he has guided throughout North America and Europe. He is one
of the youngest guides to pass the American Mountain Guides Association
certification exam. As the youngest member of the Mountain Guides
Alliance, Jeff brings high levels of energy, enthusiasm
and a dedication to raising the standards of guiding. He is known
for his calm demeanor and quiet humor whether teaching important
basics or guiding people to the top of the most difficult test-pieces.
