CLIMBING IN THE WHITE MOUNTAINS is both pleasant and challenging and has been attracting mountaineers since the last century. Rock climbs are on dramatic granite cliffs near North Conway. Cathedral, Whitehorse and Humphrey's ledges are all well known and there are many other good cliffs in the neighborhood. For more alpine climbs the area offers the thousand foot east face of Cannon Mountain. BEGINNING SNOW AND ICE CLIMBING is usually taught at the north end of Cathedral Ledge or on Willey's Slide in Crawford's Notch. More advanced lessons and guided climbs are in Huntington Ravine on Mt. Washington and on Cannon Cliff. THE ROCK CLIMBING
SEASON usually spans early April to late November, ice climbing from
early December to mid April. The seasons in New Hampshire are distinct
and lovely. When you are not climbing, you can ski or hike on scenic
